R3Survey
R3Survey is an add-in for AutoCAD and Civil 3D built for land surveyors. It adds the survey-specific tools that CAD doesn't ship with — traverse entry, automated field-to-drawing workflows, LandXML import/export, and a properties panel that speaks in bearings and distances instead of coordinates.
It's built by a registered surveyor in NSW who got tired of the workarounds and VBA macros that most survey offices rely on. R3Survey is the tool I wanted to exist, so I built it.
What it does
Traverse entry
Enter a survey traverse using bearings and distances in any format. Supports arcs, swing lines, and unit conversion.
R3Properties panel
Select any line, arc, or polyline and instantly read its bearing, distance, arc details, and area. Updates live as you click through the drawing.
Smart Strings
Load a survey file from your total station or GPS. R3Survey reads each point's code, draws points and connecting linework, and layers everything according to your configuration. Field to drawing in one step.
Survey plan management
Organise drawing layers by survey plan. Show, hide, or isolate layers by plan with a single command. Manage multiple plans in one drawing without the mess.
LandXML
Import and export NSW LandXML files. Import parcels, control marks, and observations. Export compliant ePlan data for lodgement. Also supports Hexagon (Leica) XML.
Labelling & dimensions
Auto-label boundaries with bearings, distances, and arc details. Route labels to a reference table or place inline. Handles model space and paper space.

R3Survey comes in two editions. Both are annual subscriptions.
