Scale CogoPoints (ScaleCogo)¶
Command: ScaleCogo
Available in: Civil 3D only
Scales all CogoPoint XY coordinates around a base point using a Combined Scale Factor (CSF). Elevation (Z) is not changed. Use this to convert CogoPoints between MGA grid coordinates and ground (local) coordinates.
Usage¶
- Type
ScaleCogo - Specify the base point for scaling (typically a known control mark)
- Enter the Combined Scale Factor (e.g.
1.00045) - Choose the direction:
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| GridToGround | XY is multiplied by 1 / CSF — converts grid coordinates to ground |
| GroundToGrid | XY is multiplied by CSF — converts ground coordinates to grid |
All CogoPoints in the drawing are processed. The command reports the number of points updated.
When to use¶
After importing raw survey data as CogoPoints on MGA grid coordinates, run ScaleCogo with GridToGround to convert them to ground distances for plan preparation.
Conversely, if you need to submit data in MGA grid, run ScaleCogo with GroundToGrid before export.
Tip
The CSF value is available from the SCIMS mark data. After running R3IMPORTSCIMS, check the Combined Scale Factor field in R3PROPERTIES for a selected SCIMS control point.
Notes¶
- Only CogoPoint XY positions are scaled. Elevation (Z) is not affected.
- All CogoPoints in the drawing are processed — there is no selection filter.
- Use
UNDO(Ctrl+Z) to reverse if the wrong direction was chosen.
